Shouldn’t we be more worried about ...
... the climate crisis? Global economic disparities? Failures in healthcare? The politics of polarization? Geopolitical conflict?
These are all crises that demand our attention, and all have the potential to be existential to our species.
We’ve chosen to focus on the information crisis because we see an opportunity to solve a problem that contributes to many other global problems. Economic disparities and disenfranchisement from political processes are enabled by mis- and disinformation. Our global healthcare infrastructure is similarly at risk of compromise by bad actors manipulating information for ideological or other purposes. And the climate crisis is regularly downplayed because of false and profit-driven denials of scientific consensus. Our hope is that we can make progress against all of these challenges by tackling one thing they all seem to have in common: reliable information.
